Our kids are growing up in a different world. Like the time…
…When you were trying to decide which can of tomatoes to grab at the grocery store, you looked up and caught your 7 year old with his eyes wide staring at a gay couple across the aisle holding hands.
…Your 13-year-old walked in while you were watching the news. OF COURSE, it was when the story came on about the transgender girl who won the local track competition. You can tell by the look on your daughter’s face, she’s got questions…and you’re not quite sure how to explain this one.
…You wince a little when your 10-year-old announces one of the characters on her favorite tween show says they’re gay. “What does ‘gay’ mean, Mom?”
…Your son was reading through Genesis and got to the story about Sodom and Gomorrah. Groan…how are you going to explain this one?
We believe you can give your kids solid answers in a fluid world.
But if you want your kids to be in the world but not of the world, you can’t be afraid to tackle tough topics with them.
You need to teach your kids how to love their LGBT neighbors well—while still honoring what God says about sexuality.
